Balanced Metabolism plus High Vital Reserves equals Powerful Adaptive Capacity

Our body goes through a daily catabolic/anabolic cycle. The catabolic cycle peaks at about 8:00 pm and the anabolic peaks at about 6:00 am. A powerful person spends the hours from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm in the catabolic (aka anti-anabolic) phase mobilizing his/her reserves for productive functioning  Balanced and High Vital Reservesthroughout the day. Activity, energy expending and productive function characterize this phase.

By 8:00 pm they are mobilizing reserves conducive to rebuilding and recharging. When in peak condition rest is deep and replenishing at night and by morning the mind and  body are ready for action again. Most of us remember what it was like to be able to go full speed during the day and sleep deeply and feel refreshed in the morning. You can see in the graph above that the cycles are even and have high amplitudes for both cycles. This person has high vitality and healthy reserves. If she is stressed out or gets sick she recovers quickly.

Imbalances in either metabolic functions or overall decreased vital reserves will manifest in health challenges and decreased function. The aging process accelerates when the amplitude of the cycles is reduced looking like this:

By understanding how our vital reserves are replenished with lifestyle and nutrition and applying these principles to our life we can increase the amplitude of our di-phasic metabolic cycle and increase overall vitality.

Balance Metabolic function and increase Vital Reserves with the Di-Phasic Nutrition and Health Program

The five keys to restoring the amplitude to your diphasic cycle:

1. Regulating your hormones by balancing the hypothalamus
with appropriate light and darkness stimulation. This means
getting as much natural light (entering the eyes) as possible
by day; followed by pure darkness for as much as eight hours every
night.

2. Getting adequate sleep: minimum 7-8 hours per night.
Vital Reserves are restored with adequate sleep.

3. Proper diet which includes following these essential principles
of good nutrition:

a. Avoid: sugar, fruit juices, excess fruit consumption
(1-3 pieces per day), Polyunsaturated fatty acids – all vegetable
oils other than olive oil), chemical additives.

b. Cook protein foods at no more than 225 degrees F.
Eat rare to medium. Eggs should be poached or soft boiled.
Dairy raw or cultured (yogurt, cottage cheese). Damaged proteins
and fats lead to free radical damaged cells and aging. Amino Acid
deficiencies are common due to consuming damaged proteins from
excess heat applied to food.

c. Eat adequate protein. To determine your ideal amount
take your body weight and divide it by 15, let’s say you weigh 150
pds. that means 10 ounces per day. Divide by 3 and you have 3.33
ounces minimum per meal. So you don’t want to have 10 ounces at


one meal, you want at least 3.33 ounces 3 x day. Protein is an
activator of the hypothalamus.

d. Emphasize low glycemic carbohydrates* like: above ground
vegetables: greens, tomatoes, peppers, celery, cucumber,
cruciferous vegetables, berries, sour apples, pears.

4. High intensity short duration exercise yields superior results in
stimulating hormone production. Lifting heavy weights 6-10
repetitions and sprint interval training are the best forms. This can
be accomplished through brisk walking or jogging up hill followed by
walking at a slower pace. Doing very slow (5-10 second) push-ups
and body weight squats can simulated heavy weight lifting.
